Call for Artists: Schoharie County Arts Trail Driveabout
Schoharie County Arts is hosting its third annual Arts Trail Driveabout on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, 2026 from 10am-4pm. This county-wide event will celebrate the creativity of area artists and artisans by encouraging the public to visit your studio or a designated venue where you can set up to display and sell your work. The Driveabout will be a self-guided tour throughout Schoharie County during peak foliage season. The Driveabout will take place on two days, Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, 2026. We encourage you to commit to both days if possible, but if you can only do one day, please specify Saturday or Sunday. The cost is $35 whether you do both days or only one. This enables us to organize and create the necessary map and promotional material. If you have questions, please contact [email protected]. Schoharie County Arts Driveabout Fee: Registration fee: $35 per artist. The fee is nonrefundable after the artist is notified of acceptance via email. Schoharie County Arts reserves the right to reject applications.. You will be emailed a payment form once your registration has been approved. We look forward to visiting new studios to meet the artist and assess parking, accessibility, etc. prior to acceptance on the Trail. Once your venue is approved, you will receive an email with instructions on how payment can be made. Please allow up to 48 hours for a response. Our insurance company is requiring SCA to obtain a Certificate of Insurance from each participant in the Driveabout who is displaying in their home or studio, naming SCA an additional insured for the two days of the event. While SCA is not endorsing this insurance company, artists who participated in our Driveabout last year were able to secure coverage for the two days of the Driveabout at a reasonable rate from Act Insurance. More information is available on their website: https://www.actinsurance.com SCA will create and provide maps, postcards, flyers, digital material, and directional yard signs. Rules for participating: ● Have a body of authentic art, which you have created. ● Place directional yard signs to get to your studio. ● Be at your designated location during the publicized hours on the day(s) you have committed to: Saturday, October 3 and/or Sunday, October 4, 2026. ● If your studio is located in your home, please request a certificate of liability insurance from your homeowner’s policy carrier, or an event insurance carrier, naming Schoharie County Arts an additional insured. If you are selling your work, you will need the following: ● Collect and pay New York State sales tax. ● Have a New York State Sales Tax Certificate of Authority: https://www.tax.ny.gov/e-services/elcoa/ and have all legal permits as required by your local governing body. Suggestions for participating: ● Help publicize the Arts Trail Driveabout on your social media and/or send out invitations (via email or mail). ● Display your tools and materials, and/or offer a demonstration of your creative process. ● Offer a small refreshment at your studio and hand out maps and your business card, if you have one. ● Ask visitors to complete the e-mail address/contact form provided. ● Arrange for studio assistant(s) to assist with visitors, sales, collection of names and contact information, etc. (if needed). ● If you are displaying outside, you will need to provide your own canopy, table, etc. You are welcome to share this email with other Schoharie County artists.
