Photograph by Dmitri Kasterine. "They are all Strangers" A talk by Dmitri Kasterine about taking portrait photographs Saturday, June 22nd at 2 p.m. SEEC Gallery 287 Main Street Schoharie, NY 12157 On June 22nd at 2 p.m. Dmitri Kasterine will give a talk about portrait photography at the SEEC Gallery in Schoharie, NY, where much of his work is on display until early October. The photographs on display include portraits of cultural figures of the mid – twentieth century, Mick Jagger, HM Queen Elizabeth II, Stanley Kubrick, Liv Ullmann, Samuel Beckett among others, and portraits of unknown people he encountered during everyday life. All the photographs on display are for sale together with his two books, one called Who How When Where, a collection of his photographs with extended captions that offer insight into how and what the photographer sees, the other being a book of portraits of the citizens of downtown Newburgh, called Newburgh: Portrait of a City. Newburgh is the overlooked and ignored city on the Hudson River, 55 miles north of New York City that was once the largest manufacturing city in New York State. Come with questions and your views on portrait photography, and bring a few of your photographs (no more than half a dozen). All so that we can have a lively discussion.
