Mission Statement:
It is the mission of Schoharie County Arts to broaden and enrich the quality of life in Schoharie County by developing and strengthening the arts through promoting cultural and arts-related activities, educating the public, advancing individual artists and arts organizations, and utilizing arts-related technology while contributing to the cultural and economic growth in the County.

Our Board of Directors:

Lisa Ovitt, Board President
Lisa served as president of the board of directors of Theater Project of Schoharie County for five years. During that time, Theater Project attained incorporation, IRS Section 501(c)3 tax exempt status, partnered with a capital region high school graphic arts class to develop a logo, and received several DEC grants. New York Farm Bureau’s paralegal by day, Lisa is an arts support who never misses an outdoor concert in Schoharie County during the summer.

Christine Harris, Secretary
Christina is President of the Board of Trustees of the Iroquois Museum in Howes Cave. She works with board and staff to fulfill the Museums mission focused on present day contributions of creative Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and to lessen prejudice and stereotypes of Native people. She joined SCA to help showcase and promote the variety of artists and performers in Schoharie County.

Laura Boggs Gagnon
Laura is a folk singer/songwriter; paints Ukrainian Easter Egg art (pysanky); paints in watercolor, oil, and acrylic; and is a fiber artist (knitting, weaving). Laura is the School Library Media Specialist at Radez in the Cobleskill-Richmondville CSD where she sees first-hand the transformative power of the arts in her students’ lives.

Jim Feldman
Jim is Chief Communications and Marketing Officer for Empire State Greenhouses LLC, a company dedicated to tackling climate change through carbon-negative agriculture. Prior, he served as Director of Communications and Marketing at SUNY Cobleskill, founding director of a branding firm, and consultant to World Gold Council, America’s Test Kitchen, and Italian Trade Commission, to name a few. Jim is an artist at heart and is excited to promote the arts as a vital part of life in Schoharie County.

Christina Hanks
Christina currently serves as President of the board of the Iroquois Indian Museum in Howes Cave, where she plans events at the museum that combine art, music, and Indian culture. Chris and her husband own and operate Hanks Aero Adventures-The Original Self-Fly Safari in Southern Africa. |
Anthony Leberto
Food has been Anthony’s passion since childhood and - with his background as a pastry chef, wedding cake designer, restaurant chef and manager, food stylist and positions with numerous hospitality companies - there’s very little in the food world that Anthony hasn’t done. His eye for form, color, and design, led him to food styling and work for editorial and advertising clients. Anthony currently operates Brimstone Bakery in Sharon Springs, and he believes art is vital to spiritual, personal, and community growth. |
Pam O’Connor
Pam worked in commercial art in a number of art departments and print shops. Concentrating on textiles, flags designed and constructed by Pam were featured in HBO’s recent production of The Gilded Age. Pam worked for many years in public school where she brought her creativity to the classroom and partnered with library staff on projects. |
Georgia Van Dyke
Georgia has been involved with Schoharie County Arts since its inception. After retiring from the NYS Nurses Association, Georgia became a very active member of the Schoharie County community including holding numerous positions at the Chamber of Commerce and being a founding member of SALT. Georgia is President of Van Dyke Enterprises which oversees Gobblers Knob family fun park and was named the 2018 Times Journal Star. |

Sally Ziegler
Sally has had a long and varied career as an arts educator. Her work is concentrated in weaving and fiber arts. She has developed and presented in-person art workshops for preschoolers through adult, and in the pandemic pivoted to present quality art programs via Zoom in conjunction with area libraries. Sally joined the board of Schoharie County Arts to contribute to the broadening of the recognition of the arts and arts education in Schoharie County.
